You don’t need a degree in chemistry or extensive training to know how to use essential oils effectively. With a basic understanding of safety precautions and application methods, it is easy to start using essential oils – safely.
We must first understand that essential oils can be used in 3 different methods:
- Through Smell – Aromatically
- One your Skin – Topically
- Ingesting – Internally
Your body can receive essential oils through any of those 3 applications.
Aromatically
- Diffuse oils in an essential oils diffuser
- Apply one drop to your palm, rub hands together and inhale
- Wear as a personal fragrance (put a few drops into your washing machine too)
Try this combination in your diffuser before bedtime to promote rest and relaxation:
- 4 drops Lavender
- 3 drops Cedarwood
- 2 drops Frankincense
Topically
- Massage
- Rub into skin
- Combine with lotions and body creams
My 2 favorite topical applications (at this moment. lol!) Peppermint on the back of my neck or Wintergreen & Peppermint on sore muscles.
Internally
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Check the quality of your essential oils! Do NOT ingest anything that is not safe for internal use! Don’t even waste your time buying cheap low-quality oils.
- Add to a glass of water
- Take in a veggie capsule
- Put a drop under your tongue
Adding essential oils to recipes is a great way to get potent and unique flavors into your favorite foods.
Essential oils are very potent, so you have to be cautious when you use them. Remember, a little goes a long way!
